Narrative and performance based music videos*

Narrative Based
Kylie – Come into my world
At the start of the video Kylie is walking through the street as chaos unfolds around her and everyone is going around their own business and taking no notice of her. As she goes round again she appears again so there are two of them and picks up something that the previous she dropped. This could symbolize that she is learning from her mistakes in the past. Each time she goes around another one of her appears, as well as an extra person of everyone else in the scene and each time all of their stories slightly change, and because she does something different every time its like the butterfly effect where every action has a consequence.  The video is also filmed like the camera is going round in a circle, like the world going round and round which symbolizes each day as time goes on. At the end as the camera is still moving it fades out to give the effect that even though the video has ended it still goes on.

Performance Based
Daft Punk – Around the World
The video starts with lots of different people in different costumes going different dance around a large circular stage. As the song is called ‘around the world’ the different costumes symbolize different countries as there are Mummies (Egypt) and Jocks (USA) and there are also skeletons that could represent the people that have lived. The round stage could represent the world. The stage also has some bits higher that other, this could represent the ups and downs of world events. Each of the types of character are moving to the different beats of the song such as the synchronized swimmers are dancing to the hi-hat notes and the mummies are dancing to the bass notes. As the video draws closer to the end the dancer start dancing more in sync until finally at the end they are all dancing the same dance, this symbolizes that even though everyone is different we all come together and are all connected.
